Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy just gave the House Freedom Caucus the most glowing endorsement of the year!

The former establishment congressman told Fox Business that the Freedom Caucus is the reason Republicans can’t cut backroom deals with Democrats like they used to.

“They are the ones who have stopped the Republicans from being able to govern,” McCarthy said.

In one sense, this is nonsense. Sour grapes from a failed politician. McCarthy knows first-hand that Freedom Caucus conservatives are practically the only Republican members of Congress who are governing.

• They are the ones investigating Joe Biden’s corruption;

• Holding crooks and woke extremists in the Administration to account;

• Blocking bad policy; and

• Passing good legislation through the House.

But what McCarthy really means is that the Freedom Caucus fought to stop him — and now his flailing successor, Speaker Mike Johnson — from breaking promises they made to voters. Freedom Caucus conservatives fight to stop them from capitulating to the Democrats’ policy schemes, and they fight to stop them from selling out our principles and our people.

That’s why Johnson is stuck. It’s why McCarthy failed. Not because we prevent them from governing. But because we prevent them from governing … as liberals!

McCarthy thinks he criticized the Freedom Caucus, but he really gave them a ringing endorsement!

Last week, House Speaker Mike Johnson caved.

After weeks of negotiations with the White House and congressional Democrats, Johnson agreed to fund Joe Biden’s corrupt government for another month in exchange for … nothing.

No border wall. No Remain in Mexico policy. No deportations. No new immigration reforms or enforcement of any kind. Total fumble.

Not only did Speaker Johnson give the Democrats everything they wanted. He put his temporary funding bill on the House floor using the special “suspension” procedure that bypasses any accountability.

Sure enough, the bill passed the supposedly GOP House with more Democrat votes than Republican votes.

The Republican Establishment once again affirmed Nancy Pelosi’s spending levels, Chuck Schumer’s policy priorities, and Joe Biden’s abuses of power — and called it “governing.”

This is wrong, and it’s why we desperately need more Freedom Caucus conservatives in Congress.

The GOP Establishment is more concerned about a government shutdown than border lawlessness… or the fentanyl pouring into our country… or our $34 trillion debt. They care more about what the media say than what the Left is doing to our republic.

When will they learn?

For a decade now — from the Tea Party to Donald Trump to the conservative governors leading on Covid, the right to life, and woke extremism — the American people have rallied behind principled heroes willing to take on the Left and the media and the elites. Americans across the country are hungry for leadership. But once again, GOP “Leaders” continue to follow.

Thankfully, the House Freedom Caucus fought valiantly against this betrayal. They warned leaders for months that this deadline was coming. They urged leaders to pick a winning issue — border security! — and fight instead of going behind closed doors with Biden and Schumer.

Their message was clear: We don’t need a deal — we need our country back!

And we won’t get it as long as GOP Leaders are more afraid of pundits than of their voters. Republican insiders won’t change their behavior until we change their incentives.

The government funding deal proposed by House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senator Chuck Schumer is unacceptable — it spends too much and fails to secure our borders.

That’s why eleven members of the House Freedom Caucus successfully took down the procedural rule to bring an unrelated bill to the floor last week. It alerted Speaker Johnson to the fight he will have with conservatives if he does not change course.

“My hope is to persuade the speaker and the leadership and the entire Republican conference to not follow through with the deal,” said House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good (R-VA). “The deal … doesn’t secure the border and … doesn’t cut our spending, and it’s going to be passed apparently … with predominantly Democrat votes.”

Unfortunately, the Johnson-Schumer deal is much higher than the Limit, Save, Grow Act proposed by members of the House Freedom Caucus, higher than a simple yearlong continuing resolution, and even higher than the FY23 spending deal put together by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Thankfully, we have leaders in the House Freedom Caucus who won’t accept this deal without a fight. Here are the eleven Caucus members who took a stand last week and voted to take down the rule last week to send Speaker Johnson a message:

Newly-elected House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good (R-VA) just announced House conservatives’ top legislative priorities for 2024. 

The three-term Virginia congressman — who succeeded Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) as HFC Chairman on January 1 — says that of all the crises trigged by Joe Biden’s administration, the border must be addressed first.

In Washington, leaders in both parties see border security as a bargaining chip, part of a larger deal. They want to use the border crisis — which President Biden personally created — to extract more funding for the Swamp and Ukraine, and extend the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

Chairman Good and the Freedom Caucus say NO. We don’t need a new bill. The House already passed a border security bill, H.R. 2, which would codify the policies Donald Trump used to end the flood of illegal immigration during his presidency.

And when the media and the Left threaten a government shutdown, Good says conservatives will be ready for that fight:

Rep. Good thinks it’s time for House Republicans to use the “point of leverage” they have in this debate.

“The president and the Democrats and some Republicans desperately want more money for Ukraine,” Good said. If they want the money, they should pass and sign H.R. 2 into law. “Any Ukraine funding should be dead on arrival until our border is secure.”

And even if the border gets secured, all the new money Biden wants to spend still doesn’t grow on trees. “We’re literally running a $200 billion monthly deficit,” Good noted.

That’s why HFC is holding firm to its commitment to cut at least $50 billion from last year’s federal budget.

Good is also optimistic about conservatives’ chances to improve the FISA program, which has too often been abused by the deep state. He commended reform legislation written by Reps. Chip Roy, Jim Jordan, and Warren Davidson, which would “protect Americans’ constitutional rights and freedoms while empowering law enforcement to do what they need to do on our behalf.”

On every issue, Good wants HFC to lead the House from “a principled position.” As Good notes, that strategy takes “stomach,” “willpower,” and “courage.” But that is the only way conservatives ever win.

The House Freedom Fund stands with the House Freedom Caucus and its new chairman, Bob Good, on this point. Washington never gives conservatives anything. We have to know what we want, and we have to fight for it.

One of the best stories of 2023 was the financial reckoning of left-wing grifters across the country.

In the Spring, patriotic beer lovers boycotted Bud Light when the company partnered with a trans influencer who hates the everyday Americans who actually drink the product. By the fall, Budweiser’s profits had fallen by 29 percent!

In the summer, critical race theorist Ibram X. Kendi’s $40 million Center for Anti-Racist Research at Boston University was shut down! Amid mass layoffs, Kendi was accused of “mismanaging funds,” “mistreating his team,” and conducting little actual research.

In the fall, the president of the University of Pennsylvania, testifying before Congress, refused to condemn antisemitic students’ genocidal speech on campus. The school quickly lost a $100 million gift, and the president was forced to resign.

Just recently, Washington, D.C.’s pro basketball and hockey teams announced they are leaving the city for the suburbs, in part because of the rampant crime D.C.’s woke mayor refuses to police and prosecute.

Even Disney took a beating this year. Its lineup of woke cartoons and even a woke superhero movie, The Marvels, bombed so badly at the box office that the company cried, “Uncle!” Disney recently announced their planned woke remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was being totally reshot and pushed to 2025.

In 2023, “Go Woke, Go Broke” went from a political slogan to an economic reality.

In 2024, congressional and grassroots conservatives need to transform it into policy. Joe Biden has weaponized the federal government against the American people — just like left-wing mayors and governors around the country.

House Republicans need to answer leftist extremism with accountability — CUT. THEM. OFF.

Defunding woke abuses of power in the deep state, with federal contractors, and in federally funded programs at every level of government needs to be a top priority in the House of Representatives next year.

In Washington, the “official narrative” says that establishment Republicans are serious, substantive legislators, while conservatives are loud, backseat drivers who don’t care about policy.

The opposite is true.

Quick: what was Kevin McCarthy’s big policy agenda? What has Mitt Romney ever reformed? What does Mitch McConnell believe about anything other than his own entitlement to power?

No, the real reason Establishment Republicans hate movement conservatives in Congress is that we are focused on policy. We’re not interested in deals — we’re interested in substantive policy wins.

That’s why the corporate media is freaking out about House conservatives already writing legislation for the next conservative president in 2025.

Axios just wrote a breathless story about conservatives introducing bills that would end mask mandates, affirmative action, and birthright citizenship. They are outraged over a bill to make gender-affirming therapies on minors a federal felony. 

Other outlets have pearl-clutched about conservative plans to:

• secure the Southern border,

• build the wall,

• ban pornography,

• rein in Big Tech,

• protect kids from social media, and

• protect unborn children from abortion.

This is what leftist activists and reporters are really worried about when they say conservatives are destroying “norms.” The only norm they care about is the norm of Republican timidity and deference.

Freedom Caucus conservatives are interested in different norms — like protecting our nation, our kids, and our values. All three have been under attack for decades — attacked by our own government at our expense.

Establishment Republicans aren’t interested in fundamental change. They aren’t interested in changing the status quo. That status quo has made them all rich and powerful — even as our nation descended into debt, decadence, and decline.

Real conservatives are not interested in “norms” that gave us open borders, rigged elections, forever wars, and a fentanyl-fueled crime wave. Neither are we at the House Freedom Fund.

Every candidate HFF endorses understands America is in grave peril and is ready to fight for her. They understand the woke Left is an enemy of our values and freedom. They understand our Constitution is under assault everywhere the Left governs. They understand that going along to get along is a one-way ticket to tyranny.
